Are you experiencing inner discomfort, a sense of disconnection, or notice unhelpful patterns that are limiting your satisfaction within your life or your relationships?
Healing, inner ease, and reclaiming your authenticity are possible.
Human beings don't change by acquiring knowledge. Perhaps you've had the experience of reading numerous self-help books and/or spending months (or years) in therapy, collecting insights and understandings as to why you think, feel and behave the way you do, yet still feel the same on the inside, and are continuing to play out the unhealthy/unhelpful patterns that you seek to desperately understand and change.
Our unresolved past experiences live in our body's physiology: our nervous system, limbic system, musculoskeletal structure, and other soft tissues. They manifest in our automatic reactions, our interpersonal relationships, and in how we perceive the world around us. They impact the beliefs we hold about ourselves and other people, and they influence the decisions we make. Coping skills, communication tools, and problem-solving strategies are important, of course. However, we need to bring the body into the therapy process for meaningful shifts in our felt experience. We live in a society that prioritizes thinking over feeling... Without incorporating feeling or body-based elements in therapy, thinking-based therapy is like putting a new coat of paint on a house that has a compromised foundation and calling it "improved."
In the context of a trusting, attuned, and safe professional relationship, when we work with the more primitive parts of our brain in addition to the body's innate intelligence, we can re-wire the neural networks that hold the engrained patterns that are no longer serving us, to then re-pattern them towards their natural, healthful functioning. We are reestablishing the foundation at which everything else is built upon. This healing is about deep growth and transformation, not symptom-alleviation.
